Some people don’t read books!

I was talking with my friend Lana who, incidentally, is quoted on the back cover of the book, and she told me something I didn’t expect.

“I don’t read books,” she said.

Well, that shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did.

She went on to ask when and how I was releasing the audio version of the book. This was not something I had on my action plan, but it soon was!

It turns out many authors record their own text, and I set about to learn how to do that myself. More hours of research online, checking out the videos and blogs on the subject. Testing process, equipment and results led me to realise I had a whole new facet of book publishing to learn!

I won’t bore you with the little details, but I will say I quite enjoyed the process when I finally worked it out. Each chapter took me about half an hour to record, once I had the “bugs” removed from my process. I did most of the editing as I went, trying to remove the errors, sneezes and froggy sounds. for those interested, I used Garage Band on my iMac for this.

I bumped into a friend at church who had a bunch of experience in sound engineering and I asked him if he was looking a project. Tim was keen to help and he made sure the final product as as good as it could be with amateur talent. As long as I don’t sound like Kermit the Frog or Betty White, I’m happy!

Check out the book on Amazon, just click here. If the audio book isn’t there yet, it will be soon!
